A group of people wants to express our concern with the current criteria for an AMBER Alert in the state of Idaho and how this criteria has specifically hindered the investigation for missing 5-year-old Michael Vaughan. Michael disappeared from his residence in Fruitland, ID on July 27th, 2021. Police have stated that they believe this was an abduction yet they are unable to issue an AMBER Alert due to not knowing vehicle/person information at the time.This criteria needs to change. Police should be able to, with their discretion, issue AMBER Alerts as needed — if not solely based on the fact that they believe the child has been abducted.

Although we have lost crucial time in Michael’s case, it is not too late to do the right thing and issue an AMBER Alert for 5-year-old Michael Vaughan immediately. Police have already acknowledged they believe this was an abduction and also noted a vehicle or two of interest. We want to ask you to sign this petition. By doing this you are helping us to start a process that needs to be done. Changing the legislation for Amber Alert is very important in order to help in this case but also in other cases.
