Laurie A. Jinkins is an accomplished American politician, attorney, and public health official based in Tacoma, Washington. She is a prominent member of the Democratic Party and has served as a member of the Washington House of Representatives since 2011, representing the 27th district. In January 2020, Jinkins made history by becoming the first female Speaker of the House in Washington State. Her educational background includes a Juris Doctor from Seattle University, a Bachelor's degree in Management, Marketing, and Accounting from the University of Wisconsin, and a Master's degree in Health Care Administration from the University of Wisconsin. Before her legislative career, Jinkins held significant roles such as Senior Advisor and Director of Organization Initiatives at the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department.
