Dáil Éireann, prominently recognized as the lower house of the Oireachtas, is the primary legislative body of the Republic of Ireland. It is formed up of 160 members, known as Teachtaí Dála (TDs), who are elected in general elections using a system of proportional representation. Dáil Éireann holds the responsibility for the enactment of laws, the approval of the government's budget, and the overseeing and scrutinising of the Government's performance and decisions. The Government, led by the Taoiseach, is required to maintain the confidence of Dáil Éireann to remain in office.
