The CDC monitors and responds to disease outbreaks, implements disease prevention strategies, and maintains national health statistics. It also leads public health efforts targeting various health threats, including infectious diseases, foodborne pathogens, environmental health hazards, occupational safety and health, health promotion, prevention of chronic diseases, and injury prevention.
