Recently there has been a petition that has surfaced calling for the closing of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Although concerns about the event possibly being a means of exposure to the  COVID-19 is understandable. It’s is due to irresponsible people that should have stay at home!

It is known that city leaders are working very hard to keep us safe! It’s true there are many positive cases BUT - all these cases are from people that were transferred from other places outside the USA and and didn’t originate from HOUSTON! 

Many people count on this event and it’s something that keeps us all together. Although COVID-19 is a serious threat! The people of HOUSTON need something to keep hope and happiness alive and this beloved event should be one of those things.

People just need to learn and remember to practice good hygiene. Keep in mind the animals at the rodeo have NOT been connected to COVID-19 and they are big part of TEXAS and the people that work hard to put this event together.

So, what should be important should not be limiting how many people are around us or what kind of animals there are but how we practice good hygiene to keep us and the people around us safe. It’s not because of anything else other that human carelessness towards being considerar and safe that this has occurred. So we urge that Mayor Turner and anyone who it may concern not to shutdown the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
