The BTK (Bind, Torture, Kill) killer, whose real name is Dennis Rader, is one of America's most infamous serial killers. Active from 1974 to 1991 in Wichita, Kansas, Rader took the lives of ten people while leading a seemingly normal life as a church leader and a family man. The term "BTK" comes from his own chilling description of his modus operandi — to bind, torture and kill his victims. Engaged in a game of cat-and-mouse with law enforcement for years, Rader would send taunting letters to police and newspapers, detailing his crimes. He was finally apprehended in 2005 due to a careless mistake on his part and is currently serving ten consecutive life sentences.
