Bring Native Linux Support to Roblox Player and Studio

Bring Native Linux Support to Roblox Player and Studio
The Issue
To the Roblox Corporation and development team,
I’m writing this as someone who truly enjoys Roblox and also uses Linux as my main operating system. Like many others, I’ve grown up with Roblox and still find it one of the most creative and exciting platforms out there. But as a Linux user, it is frustrating to be left out of the full experience.
Right now, we rely on workarounds like Wine or unofficial Android ports such as Sober, but these often break, lack key features, and do not provide the full quality of gameplay that Roblox is known for. Roblox Studio, which is a huge part of what makes Roblox special, can be launched on Linux using Wine, but the experience is unstable, breaks frequently with updates, and remains completely unsupported. The player client suffers from missing or broken graphical features like particle effects and shaders. On top of that, the Byfron anti-cheat system has made it increasingly difficult for Wine to work at all.
These issues affect real people. During one major Roblox event, the anti-cheat system was set to maximum and prevented all workarounds from functioning. One of the first people to support this petition was a father who had to install Windows just so his children could play Roblox. This is not just a technical inconvenience — it is a real barrier for families, creators, and players who want to be part of the Roblox community.
I understand the importance of keeping the platform secure, and I respect the work being done with systems like Byfron. But at the same time, there is a growing community of developers, students, and creators who use Linux every day and would love to be part of Roblox’s future. We are people who love technology, love learning, and want to contribute. We are just asking for the opportunity to do that without needing to install another operating system just to run one app.
Linux is no longer a niche platform. It is used in schools, programming, and gaming setups worldwide. It powers servers, workstations, and development environments. Major companies have invested in Linux gaming, and some anti-cheat providers have already begun working to support Linux securely. It would mean a great deal to us if Roblox considered taking a step in that direction.
We are not expecting a perfect native client overnight. Even a simple roadmap, a beta, or improved support for Roblox Studio and Player on Linux would be an incredible first step. It would open the door for many more people to create, explore, and be part of the Roblox world without limitations.
Thank you for reading and for considering what this could mean to so many of us. Roblox is about imagination and connection, and we believe that should include those of us who use Linux too.
Sincerely,
A hopeful Roblox and Linux community
