Change the law to allow immediate property access for animal rescuers

Change the law to allow immediate property access for animal rescuers
The Issue
In 2025, a distressing event touched my life deeply—an abandoned cat was trapped in a property all on his own, this poor animal was left without food and water, leading to an unimaginable ordeal. It wasn't until i notified the authorities that this cat was finally rescued, and the suffering ended. Heartbreakingly, not that long ago the same thing happened again. This time, a mother cat and her newborn kittens were left inside the property, Tragically, all the kittens died before anything could be done to rescue them and the mother cat was so frightened too.
This personal experience has illuminated a glaring gap in animal protection laws—currently, animal rescue organizations and authorities like the RSPCA face legal barriers that prevent them from entering properties immediately, even when notified of animals in dire situations. Time is critical in such scenarios, and every moment of delay is a matter of life or death for innocent creature's
Statistics from the RSPCA reveal that over 130,000 cases of animal neglect or abandonment are reported annually in the UK alone, with many suffering due to delayed action. Our laws must empower animal rescuers to act swiftly, assessing the validity of claims of abandoned or endangered animals quickly.
I propose a change in the law to allow authorised animal rescuers immediate entry to properties once they are notified about animals in distress. Such a law would ensure that they can intervene without delays, potentially saving countless animal lives each year.
By amending the current legal framework, we can provide a safety net for many animals trapped in desperate situations. It's imperative for us, as a compassionate society, to ensure that animals do not suffer due to bureaucratic delays that can be avoided.
Please join me in urging lawmakers to prioritise innocent lives by granting immediate access rights to animal rescuers upon notification. Your signature can make a crucial difference to countless animals in need. Sign the petition today and help us change the world for the better, animals can’t talk and ask for help so please let’s get quicker help for them.
