Stop Samsung from removing custom fonts from OneUI 8/8.5

The issue

Samsung has long been known for giving Galaxy users more control over how their devices look and feel. One UI, Good Lock, Themes, icon packs, wallpapers, and lock screen tools all show that Samsung understands personalisation matters.

However, custom font support remains unnecessarily restricted. Many Galaxy users want the ability to install and apply their own fonts safely, especially in One UI 8 and One UI 8.5.

This is not only about aesthetics. Custom fonts can improve accessibility, readability, dyslexia support, language compatibility, cultural expression, and creative identity. Users should not be limited only to Samsung-approved font options or workarounds that may stop working after updates.

We are asking Samsung to add official support for user-installed fonts in One UI 8/8.5, either through Galaxy Store, Good Lock, Theme Park, or a secure system-level font installer.

Samsung could make this safe by:

  • Allowing only standard font formats such as .ttf and .otf
  • Scanning imported fonts before installation
  • Requiring user confirmation before applying fonts system-wide
  • Providing a fallback option if a font causes display issues
  • Letting users manage installed fonts directly in Settings

Galaxy users choose Samsung because One UI offers freedom, polish, and customisation. Restoring official custom font support would strengthen that reputation and make Galaxy devices feel more personal, accessible, and user-friendly.

We respectfully ask Samsung to allow custom fonts to be loaded and applied in One UI 8 and One UI 8.5.
