Video Recording and Broadcasting of La Grange , IL Plan Commission Meetings (Provision A)

Video Recording and Broadcasting of La Grange , IL Plan Commission Meetings (Provision A)
The Issue
At the La Grange Plan Commission Meeting on 1/13/2026, we will propose an amendment to the La Grange Zoning Code to require that Plan Commission Hearings be broadcast live via video and audio, and that recordings be kept in an accessible place.
When personally faced with being the neighbor with the proposed 112 Burington development, it became evident how overwhelmingly difficult it is for single-family homeowners to adequately understand and defend themselves against planned developments that could significantly impact their properties. Having the ability to see how the process has worked in the past would have been valuable.
The ability to video record and live broadcast plan commission meetings is not merely a request for modernization but a significant stride towards transparency and accountability within our village. By implementing this change, we enable all residents to access a historical record of the village's planning decisions and allow future participants to grasp the proceedings of past meetings.
Implementing this change would not only serve current residents but also be a cornerstone for future community engagement. It is crucial for those affected by the village's planning decisions to have an easy avenue to access the proceedings that shape their community.
We propose that all plan commission meetings be video recorded and aired live through the village's website or a designated public channel. This initiative can be achieved with minimal costs by utilizing existing technology and resources within the village administration.
We call on the village council to take this important step in ensuring that our community remains informed and engaged by supporting the video recording and broadcasting of all plan commission meetings. Sign this petition to advocate for a more transparent, accountable, and modernized village government process. Your signature can help make this vital change a reality. Join us in supporting a more informed and participatory community.
Feel free to email me at jrtssc@gmail.com with any questions or comments.
Feedback to the village positive or negative can be emailed to: kquinn@lagrangeil.gov Reference PC Case #286. As long as it is in by the close of business the day of the meeting, it should be provided to the Plan Commission for their consideration.
