Petition to Wyndham Council to Off-Lead Dog Area in Tarneit
The issue
To the Mayor and Councillors of Wyndham City Council
The following petition draw the attention of the Wyndham Council to Off-Lead Dog Area in Tarneit
To: The Mayor and Councillors of Wyndham Council
We, the undersigned residents of Wyndham Council, Tarneit, respectfully petition the Council to establish designated off-lead dog areas in Tarneit, including around Davis Creek.
Purpose of the Petition: As Tarneit continues to grow, the need for community amenities that support healthy lifestyles and environmental stewardship becomes more pressing. Currently, there is only one off-leash area (Camelot Drive Reserve - Enclosed Park) in Tarneit, and there are insufficient waste disposal options along Davis Creek and other public spaces. Additionally, there have been numerous reports from residents about stray dogs on the streets of Tarneit, posing a danger to school-going children in the early mornings.
Benefits of an Off-Lead Dog Area:
1. Enhanced Socialization: An off-lead area around Davis Creek will allow dogs to interact and socialize in a safe environment, which is essential for their mental and physical well-being.
2. Adequate Exercise: Dogs need regular exercise to maintain their health. A designated off-lead area will provide ample space for them to run and play freely.
3. Community Engagement: Such spaces can serve as social hubs for dog owners, fostering community spirit and encouraging responsible pet ownership.
4. Increased Safety: By designating specific areas for dogs to be off leash, we can reduce the risk of dogs running into traffic or causing disturbances in other public spaces.
5. Environmental Cleanliness: Installing rubbish bins in public spaces along Davis Creek will promote proper waste disposal, reduce littering, and protect the local ecosystem.
Our Request: We kindly request that Wyndham Council:
1. Identify and allocate a suitable location around Davis Creek for the establishment of an off-lead dog area.
2. Ensure this area is safely enclosed and equipped with necessary amenities, such as waste disposal bins, water stations, and seating for dog owners.
3. Install additional rubbish bins along Davis Creek to encourage proper waste disposal and maintain the cleanliness of the area.
4. Implement appropriate signage and provide education on the rules and regulations for using these spaces for unfenced dog areas.
Thank you for your attention and consideration.
Signatories:
We, the undersigned, believe that addressing these issues promptly will greatly benefit our community as whole. Creating designated off-lead dog areas in Tarneit, including around Davis Creek, and installing rubbish bins along the creek will significantly enhance the quality of life for both dogs and their owners in Tarneit or other park runners. These measures will promote responsible pet ownership, provide essential exercise spaces, strengthen community bonds, and ensure the cleanliness and preservation of our natural areas. We urge the Council to give this request serious consideration and take prompt action to address these important community needs.
