NOTHING TO SEE HERE! PLEASE LOOK AGAIN!

Over and over, the human spirit has proven it rises above challenges, steps up, and does what needs doing. We see this happen during natural disasters, be they tsunamis, fires, earthquakes, famines, etc. The suffering of others constantly moves us, and we rise as a result.

Period-Poverty unfortunately, does not lend itself to the same optics.

•  You don’t get to see people being washed away by large bodies of water.
• You don’t get to see the protuberant bellies of malnourished children ravished by famine.
• You don’t get to see bodies lined up in temporary mortuaries because of COVID.

NOW LOOK AGAIN AND THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL SEE!

• A menstruator quietly misses school at least three times a month because of a simple natural occurrence. 
• A menstruator is so overwhelmed by her absenteeism and gaps in learning that she quietly quits school altogether.
• A menstruator who cannot participate in sports or physical activity because of the period substitutes she is using may not hold up.
• A woman has to choose between feeding her family and buying menstrual products.
• A woman losing her job because of one too many sick calls from severe period pain.
• A woman suffering infertility because of one too many infections from using poor substitutes such as rags or newspapers during a period.

This is why it is called a silent pandemic. Please help us take the SILENT out of the pandemic.
