Everyday during the summer months, students across the country are forced to keep their blazers and jumpers on in scorching heat, only being allowed to remove them when a teacher permits it. This is not just uncomfortable, it's harmful to their health. Heat stress can lead to dizziness, heat exhaustion, and even heat strokes. Elevated body temperatures can also affect a child's ability to concentrate and learn. Kids are suffering in this unbearable heat with heavy school uniforms on while their teachers are comfortably dressed in casual t-shirts.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the main priority of schools should be to reduce heat-related illnesses, especially during peak heat periods. Offering flexible dress code policies can be a crucial step in achieving that. This is not merely a personal issue, it's a wide-scale problem that needs necessary correction.

In the interest of our children’s health, comfort, and academic performance, it is important to demand more flexibility on school dress codes, specifically the ability for students to remove blazers and jumpers during hot weather without waiting for a teacher's permission.
