Give Us More Dark, Give Us More Grim. Give Us More GrimDark.

Give Us More Dark, Give Us More Grim. Give Us More GrimDark.
The Issue
We, the global hobby painting community, formally request that The Army Painter release the John Blanche Grimdark Shadow wash in larger formats (100ml+).
To the Team at The Army Painter,
When the collaboration with the legendary John Blanche was announced, the hobby world took notice. The resulting Grimdark Shadow wash is more than just another paint or wash; it is the secret sauce for the Grimdark aesthetic that defined an era of tabletop gaming.
It captures a specific atmospheric decay that is time-consuming for painters to replicate manually.
However, we have a problem: The 18ml dropper bottle is not enough.
The Blanchjitsu style is characterized by heavy applications, broad filters, and all-over washes.
Whether we are weathering a squadron of tanks, Grimming up a 2,000-point infantry army, or tackling a massive centerpiece model such as the Great Unclean One (yes I'm biased) the current bottle size is exhausted PDQ.
We are petitioning for a 100ml "Warzone" size or a 250ml "Studio" bottle for the following reasons:
- Workflow Continuity: High-volume projects require consistency. Constantly replacing small bottles creates unnecessary friction in the creative process and risks slight batch-to-batch variations across an army.
- Economic & Environmental Logic: Serious painters are ready to invest in bulk. Larger bottles reduce plastic waste and shipping frequency, offering a more sustainable way to support our hobby.
- Empowering the Vision: John Blanche’s art is about scale, chaos, and overwhelming atmosphere. We want to apply his vision to our models without feeling the need to "ration" every drop.
The Grimdark Shadow wash has the potential to be a staple on every hobby desk in the world, alongside legendary products like Quickshade. Don't let it remain a "boutique" item
Give us the volume we need to drown the world in Grim Darkness.
And remember, Grandfather Nurgle loves you - My children.
Signed.
Greg Draven and the below.
