This is completely unjust and unethical. Shame on general hospital for doing this to such a dedicated, kind, and wonderful soul. Rose Marcello deserves so much better than this, and so do all the workers who have gone through similar things as her. You would think a hospital of all places would be accommodating to this.
I am a 10 year cancer survivor! I would. It be here had they have not performed a colon resection. I have what’s called lynch syndrome that means I am more prone to cancer than others and my doctor has to fight for scans to be done with my insurance every year. So please reinstate so she can get the care she needs do the right thing!
I have been a nurse for 46 years. I do not feel that the employers truly value their employees, especially ones who have valuable experience. I have known nurses who had to come back to work before they were ready because of the fear of losing their jobs. Where is the compassion!. How can hospitals say they give the best care to their patients when they do not value their employees?
My name is Lamar Long and I been at Material in Motion for 18months. I just bought my very 1st house and I have a 3yr old daughter to support. I was able to support her day care but now I have NO INCOME to pay for my bills as well as her day care and other expenses. Material in motion did not notify the employees in the proper time of 60 days to give people ample time to look/apply for new positions elsewhere. They did the total opposite and told the employees that we will be laid off 2 days before Christmas. Some employees were blindsided and told to leave 5 days before Christmas when we were told our last day would be on the 23rd of December. I also was promoted from Maintenance Tech1 postion to Maintenance Tech 3 postion and never received extra pay for moving up in a new postion. There was times were we came to work and they wouldn't pay us. For example. We came to work on the night of a hurricane. Clock in and clock out like we were told and we're never compensated for it making people check short when it was a Natural Disaster at the End of Sept. This is not right and needs to be looked into. There was No explanation to why we were laid off. There was No severance pay and Insurance was cut off for employees. This needs to be Highly Investigated.
Structured systemic racism! This company operates like a plantation. They use company policy to scare you to ask to use the restroom in between breaks. If you have a voice or speak up for yourself they’ll X you out the company. I worked here for 9 months quitting today because the supervisor sent me to HR simply because I asked to take a Tylenol I had in my locker. They told me I couldn’t come back until I’m released from a doctor but no injury happened no report made. This company is full of shit and I know for sure their karma is here! They just laid off all these people before Christmas now need em back. You a fool if you go back to them your teaching them how to treat you. Then the inappropriate workplace romances with management and production workers! Just plain SICK?l! The disrespect discrimination and mental anguish I experienced at this place is worth me suing all 3 entities. Win loose or draw! The ambulance stay at this company more than a nursing home picking employees up off the production floor. And you better dare not go to HR… well you get it. Praying for all who were financially affected by their mess just know God don’t miss and neither does karma!
Regardless of whether I was offered the opportunity to return, the fact remains that a federal law has been violated. The petition gained significant traction, leading the company to reinstate many employees in an attempt to demonstrate good faith. However, the underlying issue remains unresolved—workers were wrongfully laid off, and their rights were disregarded.
Keeping it real means standing behind your words and actions, not hiding behind anonymity. If you have something to address regarding this petition, attach your name to it so that the conversation can be had transparently. Accountability is key in any movement for justice, and I have been upfront about my intentions from the beginning. This is about ensuring fair treatment for all employees, not just myself or the ones that was offered to return.
My friend, I must say this lastly that this is not solely about money. I encourage you to carefully read the petition and understand its true purpose. If you’re looking for a quick payout, this is not the petition for you. This movement is about accountability, fairness, and protecting workers’ rights, not a personal cash grab. It’s bigger than any individual—it’s about ensuring that what happened to us doesn’t happen to others in the future.
I worked at MIM for little more than 2 years, never had write ups, I attended work everyday having the minimum of points possible. The issue with this layoff that they did to us is that in the past they did it in one area which was the one that I started in, but they gave us the notice with 1 month of anticipation being January of 2023 the last month we were going to work there. At the end of 2023 I remember that they were going to do the same to the third shift they had which was Weekend Shift, but again they let them know with anticipation also being January of 2024 their last month of work, for us Second shift they didn’t do it like that, they told us on the first week of December being December 5th the exact day with December 23rd being our last day of presence in there so my question is, how much time was in there? 2 weeks? Doesn’t seems fair if you ask, specially knowing that from the last 2 or 3 months of 2024 they had us working more than in the whole year. Im sure im not the only one that had like half of the year with not too much to do in their assigned areas but those last 3 months having even overtime, something that was also not fairly provided to our shift.
I worked at Material In Motion through Impact Working Solutions for 2 years. I went above and beyond the call of duty and was promoted to Training Coordinator. I was at work everyday. I had no points and no write ups and I was let go without warning. Since I came from “Production”, I could have easily gone back to that position, but I was let go instead. Nothing about this situation was honorable or at the very least; fair! Hundreds of people were dismissed from their positions without care or regard for their livelihoods. I ask that Impact, Material In Motion, and Google be held accountable for their actions and to do what’s right for the people.
