Raising concerns over patient harm & safety is paramount & can be a mechanism for making improvements which prevent further harm. Some NHS trusts proudly display, 'Stop The Line' posters claiming that they encourage their staff to bring instances of malpractice to light via the 'Freedom to Speak Up' process. However, knowing someone who blew the whistle, I assure you that the reality is sadly very different. Whistle-blowers are harassed, victimised, bullied, singled out & targeted through demotion & job loss. They are bribed to sign NDAs, become the victim of police investigation & life-threatening behaviours, such as; tyre-slashings (in such a way that their vehicle blows out on the motorway), placing dead rats on their car, damage to their property, etc... ...and all for raising concerns over patient safety, which of course they did for good valid reasons. No one should go through this. The law must change so that people are not afraid to speak up.

In 2015, I was heinously victimized. Local police were involved in that original crime. Later details and facts, do show that other federal authorities had a part in it also. (Likely the biggest part. ) After seeking help from both local, & federal authorities, not only was I completely ignored, I faced heinous retaliation, oppression, and further victimization, including being Tortured, by uncommon methods while unjustly incarcerated for many years. I was also fraudulently, discredited by the state, so that my reports would not be believed, or taken serious. (Retalliatory abuse of psychiatry.) My personal experience has taught me, that in cases where common people are victimized by those with power, & authority, and when those who are charged with helping those in such situations completely fail to do so, and even become the offenders and accomplices in such offences, that whistleblowers ARE NECESSARY to ensure the freedoms. Rights, and safety of the general public, and others who are victims of such wrongdoings. Whistlebloweres should be protected at all cost, so that tyrants, cannot ever take hold, to destroy our system of law and government. I wish, more than anything, more than I could ever express, that a whistleblower would come forward, in my defence. And if they ever should. I would hope that they were blessed and protected by the full scope of the law, and at what ever cost. That's why I support this.

In 2015, I was heinously victimized. Local police where I lived at the time were involved in that priginal crime, and other facts and happennings do show that other, federal agencies did have a part in it as well. (Likely the latgest part). After making report of that crime to both local, and federal authorities, i was not only completely ignored, but further victimized, and fraudulantly discreddited. The whole, of the many many wrongs committed against me, lasted for ten years, and all of them have been very damaging, and heinous in nature. I support the issue at hand, because common people who are victimized, by government wrongdoing, absolutely need any help they can get. Whether it be from authorities (prefered) or whistleblowers. It seems to me, that when those with power, who are charged to protect the people from such things fail to do so, or actually become the offenders, that whistleblower protection is NECESSARY to insure the rights, freedoms, and safety, of the people that the government is sworn to protect. Whistleblowing is essential in every work place particularly whilst working with vulnerable children and adults in social work. Bad or dangerous practice can potentially place young lives at risk and unhealthy environments such as the bullying and harassment of workers is dangerous and must be exposed. There has to be better legislation in place to protect whistleblowers so that we are not exposed to ongoing abuse and victimisation. No one should have to tolerate working in an oppressive environment without the right to speak up. We have a moral and ethical duty to do this wherever we see wrong doing
