Safeguarding has been around for as long as I have worked, it is just that the church actively chose to not follow safeguarding.
To remove the independent safeguarding team shows a lack of understanding and a powerful group of males who show an active acceptance of abuse of children.

I didn’t know what he meant but realise now that these kinds of abuses, whilst they have happened in so many institutions must have been rumoured and known about for so many years. The conspiracy of silence is, thank goodness over: the clised doors are being broken down and those who kept silent for whatever reason - and it is a complete abhorrence as to why they have done - are in these times being held to account, exposed and rejected. Thanks and praise to the Bishop of Newcastle: a brave, admirable woman.
