**Advocate for Father's Rights in Family Law and Address Domestic Abuse**
The Issue
Update for 2026.
The recent court hearings have yielded highly positive outcomes for my husband, including improved visitation rights with his children, as delineated in the court order.
After two years of court proceedings and recurring assertions by the mother portraying herself as a victim, the experience has been emotionally taxing.
In the past six months, the mother has attempted to misrepresent my actions and has made false allegations against me. It was claimed that I caused harm to the oldest son, a charge that deeply distressed me as a mother. I felt wounded and enraged by this declaration. The children reported that their mother used the term 'reckoned' while expressing her displeasure regarding her eldest son's bruises, which occurred at a soft play center or during play fighting with his siblings. I proactively contacted multiple organizations and conducted my own investigation to verify the children's safety, countering the mother's unfounded and egregious allegations. She had previously employed this same tactic with my husband, with the outcome that three assessments cleared her of any wrongdoing.
What is her intention in this behavior? Is she seeking to exert control and interfere persistently in our lives due to her jealousy?
Such actions also impact the children adversely, which is a matter of ongoing concern.
It is imperative that we advocate for substantive reforms in Family Law.

Our journey commenced in January 2023, when my husband assumed the responsibility of caring for his three children following their mother’s abandonment. The situation became increasingly complex when she sought to regain custody, thereby introducing further instability into the children’s lives. Over the past year, we have actively advocated for the rights and well-being of these children within a system that often appears to favor mothers over fathers. It is particularly troubling that my husband’s experiences as a victim of domestic abuse have been overlooked during these proceedings.
This raises a crucial question: How can a mother exhibiting narcissistic traits and clear signs of neglect be awarded full custody while the children's voices and emotional states are disregarded? This scenario highlights the urgent need for a fair, balanced approach in family courts, as significant evidence of abuse and warning signs are frequently dismissed.
We firmly believe that supporting equal parenting is vital for the healthy development of children. Research demonstrates that children flourish when they maintain strong, positive relationships with both parents. However, our current legal framework often requires fathers to substantiate their parenting legitimacy, despite the critical importance of their role in their children's emotional, social, and cognitive development.
It is essential to confront and address the gender biases prevalent within family law processes constructively. It is equally important to acknowledge that fathers can also be victims of domestic abuse, and their experiences merit recognition and respect. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, one in nine men suffers from severe intimate partner violence, with nearly 40% of victims of severe physical violence being male.
This petition aims to serve as a constructive call to action, illuminating these pressing issues to policymakers. We urge legislators and judiciary members to recognize fathers' rights and to approach domestic abuse cases with fairness and impartiality. By signing this petition, you join us in advocating for a Family Law system that is equitable, inclusive of the contributions of all parents, and prioritizes the best interests of children.
