Cigarettes made my family hate me, with flavored nicotine my family speaks to me again

The legal age to smoke in the united states is 21, flavored vapes and all vapes are targeted to adults and adults only. I quit big tobacco 6 years ago and with this bill I am being forced by the government to purchase products from these large and dare I say corrupt organizations such as Phillip Morris. I see this ban as a way for the government of California to Pocket "protection money" from the giant tobacco companies. I believe the current Governor of CA to be essentially receiving bribes from these companies. These laws only benefit the government and big tobacco. - Jonathan United States Army Veteran, Iraq 2005 - 2006

Vaping helped me get off the cigarettes. I smoked for 15 years. Myself & my family included were so proud of me for ditching the stinky cigarette smoke & at least switching to something that was pleasant smelling & had far less carcinogens.

Vaping helped me quit smoking 8 years ago. I started smoking at age 14 and as an employee in public education working with youth, I have firsthand witnessed a colossal reduction(haven't seen it in five years working at a high school) in cigarette smoking. The illegal vaping by underage youth stems from illegal straw purchases, usually by relatives, as well as unlawful online and sometimes fraudulent purchases; the state could further curtail this problem by stricter enforcement of underage sales laws rather than a blanket restriction that affects everybody, even those that vaping has aided such as my self and MANY people that I personally know. Where there's a will, there's a way, and I promise you, this new law will undoubtedly result in a new unregulated, black market that may result in further harm.

I’ve been vaping for over 13 years, and ever since switching from cigarettes, my once-daily asthma attacks have basically disappeared. Statistics gathered by the FDA and CDC along with CA state agencies, have reported that teen e-cigarette use is the lowest it has EVER been, 6%. It’s clear that stricter ID requirements have worked, which is great! But if this new law is supposed to stop and prevent teen vaping, which is clearly NOT a big problem anymore - it’s extremely unfair to punish the almost 2 million adults who use them - especially as a way to quit combustible cigarettes, which have been proven to be MUCH more harmful. Keep the ID requirements, keep the PSAs for teens, but please overturn this ridiculous overreach of a flavor-ban law. I understand the intentions were in the right place, but you’re hurting the people that never deserved any of this, way way more than the teens you're supposed to be helping. No government should have a say in what I can smoke, vape, eat, drink. If it’s not directly hurting others or endangering anyone else’s well-being, then please, leave us be.

Flavored Vapes have helped me to quit a 25 year 2 pack a day cigarette habit. Why am I 43 and not allowed to smoke something that is improving my life?

In a state where purchasing marijuana is legal, it boggles my mind that, at 48 years old, I am still restricted in my choices. I am fully capable of making my own decisions, even if some may disagree with them. We live in the incredible United States of America, a nation founded on the principles of freedom. Prohibition represents an abuse of power, and the government has no right to infringe upon the liberties of adult American citizens. The repeal of alcohol Prohibition in 1933, through the Twenty-first Amendment, recognized that banning substances leads to unintended consequences, such as the rise of illegal markets and organized crime. While I do not support youth tobacco use or the illegal sale of tobacco, I believe any retailer who sells tobacco to a minor should be penalized so heavily that they could never sell another tobacco product. That said, adults should have the freedom to make their own choices.

With the help of flavored vape products, I switched successfully from smoking tobacco, which was an enormous health risk, to exclusively vaping. My doctor has told me since switching, I am much healthier. Not to mention, I'm a tax paying adult. You should not have the right to infringe on such matters.
