The current hardships in our home country place a considerable emotional burden on its international students. The added pressure of managing tuition payments only intensifies this stress. Therefore, any support or flexibility in tuition payment would be immensely helpful and greatly appreciated.
Trying to manage tuition and exams as a master's student is already overwhelming, but it's even harder when I'm constantly worried about the safety of my loved ones.
As a student at the University of Melbourne, I’m struggling to manage financially due to the crisis in Iran. My family can no longer send money, and it’s affecting both my studies and wellbeing. I hope the University will show compassion and offer urgent support.
I strongly support the Iranian students at the University of Melbourne. No one should be forced to abandon their education because of war, sanctions, or broken banking systems. This is a humanitarian crisis. The University must provide emergency financial aid, tuition relief, and real mental health support, now.
As an Iranian scholarship recipient at the University of Melbourne, I am experiencing firsthand the challenges outlined in this petition. Despite earning this opportunity through hard work, I am now facing severe uncertainty due to the current crisis. My student visa has been significantly delayed, forcing me to defer my course commencement, hoping conditions will stabilize. The emotional toll is overwhelming - living in constant fear that visa processing delays will force me to miss critical deadlines and potentially lose everything I've worked for. Like many Iranian students awaiting visas, I am deeply concerned that the current situation will further delay our visa processing times. I strongly support this petition's requests for mental health support and academic flexibility, as Iranian students both in Australia and those still waiting to arrive need immediate institutional support to navigate this unprecedented crisis beyond our control.
I feel so anxious and have panic attacks. My brother who is my financial supporter went to Iran to meet parents and when he was about to come back to Australia, the crisis broke out and he got stuck there. Also, my funding in the Iranian bank has lost value in currency exchange and I feel financially pressured to the point that I don't know what to do next. It is depressing and frustrating. I think I need to work full time, even though I have become physically and mentally sick lately. I am worried about my parents back in Iran and can't focus on studies...please help us. Thank you
I am currently experiencing massive mental breakdown due to war and having family caught up in it which makes it harder for me to cope with the financial difficulties along my studies. My parents no longer are working. It is harder to transfer money.
It is unctrollably difficult to have sufficient focus for conducting research when every moment passes under severe stress of not knowing what will happen to my family and my people in Iran in the current situation.
