This is a health benefit that has not only made seniors stronger, but created an amazing community! Please reconsider & negotiate to keep this benefit! Our mental & physical well being are in your hands.
Having access to club Pilates has really changed my life. When I started it hurt to move around. With club Pilates even just four times a month I have notice that my body feels much better. Please keep club Pilates and the stretch lab. They help me so much
The ONLY reason I did not switch plans this year is because of the YMCA benefit and the Stretch Lab benefit. After checking Renew Active UHC lead you to believe the Y was still a part of the network. I also told others about the YMCA and Stretch Lab benefit and they enrolled in a UHC plan only to now find out that neither facility is a part of Renew Active.
Stretch Lab was THE ONLY THING that kept my mobility in check. The Y was like family in that it offered social companionship that can not be found at any of other facility. No I'm alone again.
UHC should have made it clear duriing open enrollment that the Y and Stretch Lab would not be offered in Renew Active. The other stuff they got going on Group whatever, is a piece of crap.
I feel like this was a bait and switch. When I was looking at plans I specifically checked if stretch lab would be included in 2025 and it showed it would be so I stayed with UHC. UHC even sent a letter telling you to check to make sure the fitness benefits were still offerd and stretch lab was when I searched it. Then I look at my 2025 plan after enrolling only to find out it is no longer included.
I have used StretchLab for two years and what they have done to improve my flexibility and reduce aches has improved my ability to stay in condition and strength training. Using this and other vendors that have been eliminated from Renew Active has helped me avoid injuries that would cost more to treat than prevent, which is what these options do. UHC and Renew Active should at a minimum, allow people to keep a few of the options. As others said, we selected UHC because of those options and taking them away without more notice is not the way to do business.
I chose this health care plan even though it is much more expensive than other choices because it included membership to a variety of fitness gyms including pilates. I viewed this a key to maintaining good health through the medicare years The reduction to one poorly equipped gym near me as of Jan 1 is ridiculous and a huge change that weakens the attractiveness of this UHC insurance as my choice. Unless this is reversed, I will be shopping for other insurance options during open enrollment this year.
As a senior, I rely on help to keep physically fit. AARP and United Health Care have no regard for their clients. They notify us at the last minute about a change that will greatly impact our lives. I have to turn in my resignation to Club Pilates by tomorrow! I will be looking for a better health care plan during the remainder of the Open Enrollment period.
Cutting these essential health services to seniors is a HUGE mistake. StretchLab is critical to keeping my health issues at bay by providing therapeutic care for aging joints and muscles. It helps with mobility and balance - key factors in keeping additional health car costs low. They YMCA membership is essential for maintain cardio and muscle strength. It's foolish to stop support for these programs!!!
