I don't understand--how is it women are so threatening? Has someone in the Club Sports organization lost to a woman in some game and can't get over it? If it's club sports, what's wrong with having fun, getting some exercise and socializing a bit? Why can't men and women cooperate and play together on a team? It's like good training for real life. There are few enough sports for women, despite the promises of Title IX. Taking one away is a bad idea.

As a member of the mixed club team “Pickles” out of Asheville NC, i have scrimmaged with and played against Western Front at multiple tournaments over the last few years. I have witnessed first hand the passion, dedication and competitive spirit of each and every person that has stepped on the field for WCU regardless of Gender. Western Front has a bright future as a mix ultimate Juggernaut in North Carolina and do not deserve to have the rug pulled out from under them when they are so close to taking their team to the next level.

I’ve been on this team for 4 years. Mixed ultimate is a unique experience to break down barriers and to include everyone in a beautiful sport. The Front is not asking for money, just to be respected as a club sport and be given a field to practice on, especially after the consistent good standing the club has had with club sports…

As the head coach of Carolina Copperhead, the U20 YCC Mixed team for NC, I can't underscore enough the value of being able to continue to play mixed ultimate at the college level. The blend of competition and comraderie is unmatched by what I see on single gender club ultimate teams. It's wonderful that this opportunity exists at WCU, and it should be treasured.

After coaching Ultimate for 7 years in FLA I moved to Western NC. In 2020, I took on the task of mentoring this small group of WCU ultimate players trying to build back a team that was decimated from the pandemic. We knew it would not be easy but we forged ahead anyway. For many young adults leaving home for the first time, college is a scary place with a limited number of ways to connect to other students, form bonds, get exercise and develop critical life skills that are unique to Ultimate. Each year, I have seen this team progress; in skills, athleticism and numbers. I donate my coaching time and own money to support this team. It would be a shame to see this club cut short of it's potential.

This ultimate frisbee team and the wonderful young women on it and leading it have been one of the few reasons I have stayed at western for my entire school career so far. Its importance to me can not be over stated.

Sportsmanship, inclusiveness, competiton, and community are the spirit of ultimate frisbee. Actions that would remove players from a team who wants to compete with them are anathema to the sport. Let the team compete and lift up your students, don't tear them apart or tear them down.

As a women who participated in a co-ed sport I do not understand the schools stance on threatening funding if the club does not specifically exclude their female sports members. Sports are for everyone and build important relationships. Excluding members based on gender, knowing the female club would dissipate due to a lack of resources, is appalling and should be reconsidered immediately.

I was part of the team from 2012 to 2014, having male and female players was never even a point of conversation. There was no difference in competition or camaraderie and Ultimate isn't a contact sport, so there's no rational basis for any separation.

Playing on this team has been quite the experience. I was able to find a community and we strive to push each other on and off the field. Given the current climate of genders and sports, it's nice to be apart of team where all players can compete together under one team. Dismantling one of, if not the only, competitive, mixed club team would be a sore spot on WCU club sports
