Trees are vital to our environment and well-being, providing oxygen, reducing pollution, and offering habitat for wildlife. Recent trends show increased awareness of deforestation and the importance of tree conservation. Petitions under this topic focus on issues like stopping deforestation, planting more trees, and protecting forests from destruction.
One petition with thousands of signatures calls for stronger laws to prevent deforestation and preserve natural habitats. Another popular petition urges governments to invest in tree-planting initiatives to combat climate change and promote biodiversity.

This is one of my favorite roads of travel and sits to close to the Withlacoochee State Forest to be developed. There plenty of less rural areas that can be developed where that kind of growth belongs. This state is over crowed as it is and Brooksville does not need to become part of The Villages. We the tax payers moved here for the serenity and we the people are in charge. The elected officials work for us and need work for our concerns. Put this to a public vote and not a decision of elected people.
Mondon Hill is not just any road but an escape from the hustle and bustle. You'll see tons of motor cycles enjoying thier country route, horses cows bee farms and donkey galore, there's no room for large RV's dump trucks etc on this road. Keep it for the residents and like minded, don't commercialize mondon hill.
One of the reasons Brooksville is so beautiful, and unique, is because of its rolling hills and countryside. Taking that away then it’s just another built up area that nobody wants to be around sucking more people into a concrete environment resulting in to depression and loss of escapism.
We moved here four years ago to grow our own food. Keeping this area rural allows us to do that. I am for planned growth that helps the people who are already living here, not actions that make our lives worse.
McLane Nature Trail has been part of our lives for over thirty years. The view of the hills as we walk toward the creek is very peaceful and beautiful, particularly if topped with low clouds in the fall. A cut on the east side of these hills would definitely spoil the experience for years to come. There are examples of clear cuts in other parts of the park.
Please consider incorporating the east side of these hills into the protected trail area.
Please save the forest that fringes mcclane. We used to have giant 2nd growth forest that was clearcut near by. Old growth is no longer in capital forest so we should honor any 2nd growth that is still left. It helps keep the forest healthy. Thank you
This is such a beautiful area for birding and seeing salmon. It is also a great spot for environmental education. My kids have been here on school field trips, I’ve helped DOE staff teach WCC crews about water quality monitoring here, and I’ve taken a winter twig ID class here.
This area provides important habitat, as well as recreational and educational opportunities.
Mclane Creek nature trail is a beautiful walk suitable for all ages and abilities, very close to many people's homes. We have a limited number of places like this, and they deserve our care. Natural resources have value beyond the financial value. They have great value for the animals, plants, and other living things that call them home, they benefit the larger ecosystems by being kept intact, and they have mental, emotional, and spiritual benefits for the humans who visit them. I would not be happy to see this beautiful place logged.
