Mobbing is not a matter of individual conflict or personality clashes. It is a deliberate, often calculated effort—typically carried out by a group of insecure, manipulative individuals—to isolate, discredit, and ultimately remove someone they perceive as a threat. The damage inflicted is profound—physically, psychologically, and professionally.
I empathize deeply with those who have endured this, as I too have experienced it in an academic job. The emotional toll, the professional setbacks, and the deep sense of betrayal by an institution that should protect its people are all too familiar. No one should have to suffer in silence, be driven out of their profession, or lose their life because others chose cruelty over integrity.
And that leads to a painful question: Why do victims so often have to lose their lives—or their careers, health, and dignity—because of the inhumane behavior of a group of people shielded by institutional silence?
Now more than ever, higher education leadership must do more than offer thoughts and condolences. They must confront the systemic failures that allow this abuse to continue. Silence, complicity, and performative gestures are no longer acceptable. It’s time for meaningful accountability, structural change, and a renewed commitment to creating safe, inclusive, and just environments where people are treated with the humanity they deserve.
As a victim of workplace bullying, I can attest to the importance of ending this toxic behavior in the workplace! A colleague committed suicide because of this! I do not want to see any more lives being lost because of this disgusting behavior!
As an Asian woman, many times when I go out, I fear being discriminated against if I wear any clothes that give out an exotic look to others, and this needs to change. People should be more open-minded.
While I understand that shelters all over are full, however more emphasis needs to be put on finding rescues and fosters. Best friends in Kanab Utah is a good resource for rededicating the managers. Volunteers and staff put their hearts and love into these animals who end up in shelters through no fault of their own.
More pressure needs to be put on BREEDERS/ greeders to stop indiscriminate breeding for profit. There has to stop it where it starts!!!
These babies are not at fault 😭😭😭😭
