This is the worst thing that can happen to this state land! People enjoy this land. There is absolutely no reason for this. Go find other land. We grew up knowing this forest as a place to go to get away from all the things in life that destroy the nature of life. Stop taking away the homes of the animals that live here! Stop taking away our forests that create oxygen and protects us. We the people are speaking! My brother Daryl and my dad are rolling in their graves over this! This has to be stopped!!!

So not only are you going to take away precious oxygen, but also take that oxygen & home to all the critters that are out there? How is that fair to them? (And people wonder why wild animals are coming up to their homes & in the yards etc. because they're running out of places to live & eat. why are they? Because of the greed of humans. IMO I get it, we could benefit from a solar farm, why can't you find another place that doesn't require this kind of destruction?

Enough clear cutting is occurring already, you’ve already turned southern and central Michigan into a flat desolate land of fields and windmills. Leave the forests of northern michigan alone, you can’t just clear cut and replant trees and expect it will return to normal. Look at the lack of wildlife in the areas you have clear cut and just left. I’m all for Solar energy BUT we need to utilize land that has already been cleared by humans.

I live in Gaylord, I am not anti-solar farm. I am anti-tearing down a ton of trees and habitat to build a solar farm. There have to be other places in Michigan where the trees are already gone and this is way less impactful. There is so much flat and cleared land in the middle state areas, why aren’t we looking there? Michelle

I’ve lived in Michigan most my whole life. I absolutely love exploring our state lands for what they are. The proposed plan to remove forests to put in place a solar farm does not sit right with me. Especially given that there are better areas to put in solar farms that could lessen environmental impact. Instead of adding to it by destroying habitat that wildlife depends on and that is only shrinking by the day for projects like these.

I am a resident of Gaylord and not someone against renewable energy. HOWEVER, I live on Lone Pine Rd. I use the Pine Baron Pathway EVERY SINGLE DAY. There are schools in the area that use the trails for cross country practice. Thousands of people use these trails for recreating, including cross country skiing, snowshoeing, running, hiking, exercising their dogs, mountain biking, to only name a few. This is a rare slip of solitude off limits to ORVs and snowmobiles in an otherwise busy trail system of state land. State land for ALL Michigan residents and this would be detrimental to everyone who uses these trails, not to mention the wildlife that call this sanctuary home. Please do not allow this parcel to be permanently deforested!
