I grew up in Stockton and visit regularly. Whenever I come back, I bring my friends and family to Angel Cruz Park for the amazing community and food. It’s important that we continue to support communities like these, especially our elders and their families. The park really brings folks together and my friends from out of town love it, too. They have stated that it’s a really special thing Stockton has going on. Our city doesn’t have the best reputation, let’s not get rid of some of the few things that make this place special.

Street vendors not only provide food, but also a space which brings together our communities. These ordinances will ultimately harm Stockton. Protect our street vendors!

Our streets vendor is whats bringing the community together. We share the diversity of love through the food we eat. Bringing the home cook comfort food to the streets makes every part of Stockton a home. Memories are built around it all and should be continued down to the next generation. Do it for us…do it for all….do it for the people!
Tina supported: DROP THE ORDINANCE : Protect Stockton's Street Vendors!
These regulations do not improve food safety and if anything make it more unsafe for vendors and their patrons. Our vendors are important to the culture and community in Stockton and they provide affordable food options that boost our local economy. I want my money to go to local business owners, not just corporations, and I want to spend my money on real food that isn't overly processed.
Michelle supported: DROP THE ORDINANCE : Protect Stockton's Street Vendors!
In my Ethnic Studies classes, I teach about how the Stockton City Council has previously made decisions that have hurt communities of color. The Ethnic Enclaves of Little Manila and Barrio del Chivo were torn down for a freeway in order to support business interests. I want to tell my students we should learn from the past and not repeat the same mistakes. This ordinance to regulate street vendors echoes these same mistakes of the past. This ordinance would hurt the entrepreneurs of our community, many of whom are immigrants. Having food vendors in our parks builds community and adds feelings of safety. The vast majority of Stocktonians stand with food vendors - listen to your constituents. The City Council would be making a mistake by approving this ordinance.

Wish I had this as a student. As a parent, I hope this is available for my children - a class that affirms them.

This AP class isnt just a great way to make classes more diverse, but they also give students who are Asian a greater chance to learn more about their own histories, which honestly is more difficult than you would think to do on your own. This is a really great way to help the greater population and increase awareness, especially considering our current political climate!

To simply have the OPTION to take this class and have it available is so powerful and empowering to our community that is too often overlooked in the classroom.
