Update the ADA! I have a mini-donkey Mazzy who is trained as my service animal. Updating the ADA definition of acceptable service animals to be more inclusive of different animals such as mini-donkeys/hinnies/mules and hopefully more, is the correct direction for us. The current ADA definition stating dogs & miniature horses as the only acceptable service animals NEEDS updating. Many different animals can be trained to bring help, comfort & care to the disabled community.

My grandma and grandpa had a service dog and he saved my grandparents from needing home health care for awhile. He almost got attacked multiple times and he was literally helping take care of my grandparents so he was helping so much more than if they didn't have him. Some people don't realize how important service dogs are and how a lot of service dog can literally save someone's life's multiple time.

As a Service Dog handler, I can say I’m not the only one who gets anxious when another dog is out of control lunging at my dog. Service Dogs are specifically trained to help people with a disability, but when we see another dog in public, I find it like a slap in the face showing absolutely no respect for us handlers. Plus, it’s not just the fault of the untrained dog’s handler, but also the store. Target is allowing every dog they see come into the store, including aggressive dogs, protection dogs, regular pets, and more. It would be such a great help to make stores JUST Service Dog friendly, like they used to be!

I am a service dog handler and what target is doing is unfair and unlawful. every target store has some sort of SERVICE ANIMAL ONLY sign on the door. the sign is noticeable. it frustrates me that if i want to go to target, i am put at risk of my dog getting attacked or distracted by a fake service dog or a PET in a non pet friendly store. please enforce your laws. i have seen many pets in your store. i have seen pets in shopping carts. not only is bring a pet into a store illegal but putting an animal in a shopping cart that can carry food and produce items is disgusting. this doesn’t just go for target, but many other stores too but you need to enforce your laws. it is essential that a new employee knows the rules of the store and how to handle a situation or when to call the manager. ever staff member needs to be better educated. please stop this. ENFORCE THE RULES THAT YOU PUT IN PLACE!!

I have Autism and my cat Swiss helps calm me down when I get overwhelmed.

Cats are intelligent and can be trained to task just like dogs, which is the qualifier to be a service animal. I have been considering a service animal to help stop and redirect me when I am in a trance with my dermatillomania as not many other things have worked for me, but a dog would not be viable with my current living situation, and even if it was, the physical upkeep dogs require is too demanding for me, as I am chronically fatigued with a sleep disorder. A cat would make so much more sense in every aspect and there is no good reason why they, or any other animal that is capable of being trained to task and be in public, can't be considered a service animal.

I'm disabled and I'm unable to care for a dog because my flare ups stop me from going out and giving the dog exercise. A cat only needs a Lazer pointer to get enough exercise. With an extendable litter box scooper, caring for their basic functions is easy. Cats are very in-tune with their owners. My ESA scotty was trained to sit, heel, spin, come, and interupt harmful behaviors. He only does these at home due to current laws, but he would be an amazing service animal if given the chance, and if he could come with me he would improve my quality of life immensely.

Cats can be trained and/or aid people with disabilities in many ways, especially those with mental health disorders. I have schizo-affective disorder and without my ca i couldnt leave the house
