As a senior, I know I’m not safe walking alone in the parks, the shopping center parking lots and some stores, and definitely not after dark - and that makes me sad; as a grandmother, my adorable grands aren’t safe playing in the front yard, at school, or a blink out of sight - and that makes me angry. We all deserve better - Vallejo deserves better.
I am a Benicia resident and care because our town shares a border with Vallejo and some of the sideshows have spilled over into our community. Something needs to be done to get the spiraling crime in Vallejo under control. I won’t go there any longer to shop the way it is now. It’s a frightening and apparently lawless community right now.
My husband and I moved here from NYC 7 years ago and have been subjected to multiple crimes such as car theft, 2 burglaries, car broken into, all with little or no police response, this is shameful, we felt much safer in NYC! We are hard working, middle class professionals who love Vallejo for its diversity and only want a safe community to reside in, I’m afraid to get out of my car when I come home at night, it’s a terrible feeling to live with. Please help the citizens who please for safety and change.
My son is in his 3rd year at CSUM. A wonderful campus but surrounded by the out of hand crime in Vallejo. 2 cadets just got shot while they were getting gas. WTH? Things like this SHOULD NOT happen but will continue until criminals are held accountable. Do something!!!!!
It's disheartening to live in a city with such potential and natural beauty, but that is failing its citizens in so many ways. I don't carry a purse anymore. I'm careful when driving not to get stuck in a place I can't get away from a potential carjacking. We go out of way to do simple errands, such as banking and grocery shopping. Knowing that many of our neighbors are affected by sideshows makes us feel powerless and frustrated. These issues have made us regret moving here and are considering leaving. Please take a moment to consider what we're going through in Vallejo and give us the support we need.
Governor Newsom, please help the city of Vallejo! It’s a war zone! It is a city with beautiful features which could be an actual destination to go to. In the past I have attended very nice events in the historical part of the city and the waterfront. I live two blocks away and at night I hear side shows, gunshots, loud bomb sounds, overuse of fireworks all year. The crime/homelessness/drug use/dangerous behavior of every kind is through the roof. Come visit and see for yourself. The city government is corrupt and does nothing, but skim money and you are letting them do it. The police don’t respond. Trash, abandoned cars, homeless encampments are everywhere. Kids can’t even walk to school without stumbling into someone’s sleeping area. Human waste is on the streets literally. Prostitution is everywhere. Criminals come from far and wide to follow someone home from the bank and rob them at gunpoint, loot stores, steal catalytic converters and on and on. It’s so not fair that the citizens of Vallejo have to suffer all of this danger. Don’t get caught there after dark and the daytime is getting just as bad with virtually no police response. One time there was a person walking down the street swinging a machete! In the morning! Not to mention other cities dump their homeless people off and leave them. Some places bus them in. That’s got to be illegal, right!
Please, please help. I know you can do something. It’s desperate!
It's disheartening that I'm not a native of Vallejo and have invested in property in Glen Cove. I feel anxious driving around my own neighborhood. In just one year, I've read about so much violence and noticed a lack of police presence; while San Francisco, Oakland, and the Peninsula get attention, Vallejo seems to be ignored. We truly need support. This area is lovely, but it’s sad to feel unsafe while driving. I prefer to shop in Benicia because I feel secure there, which is unfortunate. How many more lives need to be lost or harmed before the governor takes action? I’m grateful for the neighboring CHP and other officers from nearby counties who are stepping up, but we need to improve the situation, and it doesn’t appear to be happening.
As a resident of what used to be a City that I was proud to live in and loved, especially the Water front now I do not feel safe at all in this City. I used to love just bumming around just enjoy being out. Now I'm always tensed, afraid and always worried and my safety and those that come visit. I have been here 39 years and the determination of this once beautiful City is so disheartening. WE NEED HELP, WE NEED LEADERSHIP, WE WANT OUR CITY BACK!
I lived in Vallejo for so many years I've been shot at four times I've had my house broken into I seen our neighbor's house get destroyed by sideshows I've seen people get jumped here in Vallejo I've seen people get robbed at gunpoint here in Vallejo is getting out of hand and we need more help!
