I wear "all of the gear all of the time". Most motorcycle gear is partially or all black. In order to be protective, it has to have solid patches or armor at high risk abrasion points. If I'm not moving, air isn't blowing through my suit vents. If I'm stuck in rush hour gridlock, there's no trees or shade over the QEW. My black armor becomes a sweatbox, sucking up all of the sun, cooking me alive. I can't just turn on a fan or AC, the wind is my fan. I can't easily risk just take a cool sip of water unless I'm wearing a hydro bladder; you think impatient cars will let riders deglove and take their helmet off for a drink when suddenly traffic moves and there's a chance to pull up a whole 12 feet? I've had heat stroke from "waiting like I'm supposed to", staring down the empty space between the lanes, heat shimmering off the asphalt, exhaust fumes choking my lungs, every movement risking getting rear ended by a driver only half paying attention. I don't want to blast 80kph past everyone. I want go safely, carefully, slowly maneuver between all the single occupant SUVs and free up both highway congestion (by removing myself from it) and the needless risks to my safety (by making me sit in it). Please.

And that number seems to rise when they get stuck in traffic and get bored sitting there. I’d rather safely filter through traffic than sit there waiting to get hit from behind. Lane splitting has already proven to make a significant difference across the states and in Europe. And with the rising motorcycle fatality rate rising in Ontario each year. Something like this should be done to increase our chances at making it home to our families.
Matt supported: Legalize Lane Splitting for Motorcycles in OntarioI absolutely couldn’t agree more, the LED bright white head lights are extremely dangerous, I’ve had to actually pull over until a stream of oncoming cars with these led lights have gone by as I could not see the road , I was blinded, and have had several very close calls due to not being able to see.
They should DEFINITELY be banned, if I were abusing another new/second hand car I would not purchase it if it had those sort of lights. I am convinced that that they have already been the cause of many serious accidents
Lynda Woolley supported: Ban the Use and Distribution of LED Headlights in CanadaThis problem is especially bad for people with astigmatism or glasses—recently I switched to contact lenses and couldn't believe how much easier nighttime driving was without the glare of oncoming headlights completely eclipsing everything else in my vision.
And this petition only talks about oncoming traffic... what about when a pickup truck starts tailgating your smaller car, and now the vehicle BEHIND you's LED headlights have blinded you?
I don't necessarily think LED lights need to be banned, but they absolutely need to be regulated on how bright they're allowed to be and what angle they're set to. LEDs don't HAVE to be eye-searing supernovas!
And all the insistence on LEDs for dark roads... okay fine but if you want to keep producing cars with LED headlights, I for one think that if my car can detect road lines for lane assist, and sense how close it is to the car in front for automatic cruise control, it's easily feasible for car manufacturers to add a feature that detects oncoming headlights and auto-turns off high beams, or even just activates a half-shutter on the left headlight to angle the light away. We have the technology! But no car manufacturer is going to prioritize a feature that assists with comfort of other drivers on the road without legislative motivation.
