This is the only fairly large, American-fare, comparably reasonably-priced, garage parking adjacent, extended hours restaurant in all of downtown Evanston. It’s suitable for groups of teens, students, families, and anyone else who doesn’t want or doesn’t have the $ for the other upscale places rotating in and out of the smaller storefronts. And it’s ESTABLISHED. People who live outside Evanston will patronize because of the close parking and knowing it’s “always” been there. It doesn’t make sense to allow the developer to gut the 1st floor established business to create 1 massive space of a sq ft no one wants because the commercial rents downtown are astronomical. Also, the central st theater has been gone for almost 30 years, and now you’re going to let them halve the number of remaining movie screens?! What are all these proposed newly renting residents downtown supposed to walk to and do?
This Chili's has a special place in the hearts of all Evanstonians - NU students included. It's a place of community that cannot be sacrificed for yet another high rise condo building! We simply can't let this happen!!
The cottage cheese and pineapple is something I have enjoyed since I was a little kid. I’m 55 years old now and have a child myself. I was hoping he would love it as much as I do, but discovered he may not get the chance to.
This was always one of the healthier choices for a drive-thru restaurant. It’s a shame it was removed without giving your fans an opportunity to save it.
I've worked in NC kitchens with high A grades with bugs, rodents, mold on shelves, dishes that aren't washed or sanitized properly, etc. Grades are only an indication of how friendly the employees are with the health inspector.
As a mall that keeps declining, this family restaurant has always remained a constant. Whether it was Critics or Jims, the food and service has always remained consistent and welcoming. It saddens the community to see how Wilmorite handles its mall properties around this region. Let the people choose what they want, and that is Jims - not Boscov's!
I remember going to Critics as a child in the early 70’s with the family…one of mom and dad’s favorite fish fries
It has been a great family restaurant ever since. This so sad to hear. We were just there about 2 weeks and were told they were moving down near the bookstore. The mall needs to accommodate this legacy restaurant. It’s the only restaurant we’ve gone to in the mall since Tom Wahls closed. We hope something can be done to save this great restaurant. It’s really been the only reason to go to that mall anymore now. Great food for many many years..you will be missed
This is a place that my late Aunt Clara and I went to have lunch. It has so many memories it would be a tragedy 💔 to see a place like that with so many memories, gone for so many people. Now my brothers and I have a nice breakfast there. PLEASE, PLEASE don't do this to a landmark that serves Monroe county.
Jim’s is our place to go when we get together with family and friends. I have a grandson in a wheelchair and this restaurant easily accommodates him. We have so many good memories of times there and hope to have lots more. It’s a wonderful family restaurant!
