I support Duwamish sovereignty. Treaties are supposed to be the supreme law of the land, and the U.S. has trampled on Native nations' treaty rights since its inception. Federal recognition honors the nation-to-nation relationship the Duwamish Tribe always has had with the U.S.

How can we accept the further neglect of an individual tribe? Must we deny their existence as a tribe? What harm is there in indulging this small request? I think that the simple truth is that pettiness and infighting has delayed this recognition far too long. Please recognize the Duwamish!

Do the right thing and Recognize the Duwamish People! They have been the stewards of the land since time immemorial! They deserved to be honored and their treaty rights met!
Sarah supported: Federal Recognition for the Duwamish Tribe
It is appalling to consider the actions and inactions of the settlers who struck treaties with the original inhabitants and then refused to carry out their side of those agreements. The Duwamish people have been disrespected enough. It is time to do what can now be done to set this matter to rest. I applaud all who take action to set the record straight and make our collective futures better.
