I carried live rounds and I was issued a grenade launcher and stayed on the side of a cliff and mountain for several months close to the Nicaragua border.
We were told the shit could hit the fan at anytime. It was nerve racking to say the least. A campaign ribbon is the least they could give everyone who served and sacrificed to prevent the spread of Communism in Central America.
