Many thanks to Liz Shaw, Cr Danny Goss and Courtney O'Brien from the gazette, without you these miscreants might have gotten away with it. Attention Cr Wilson, doubling down on your cockamamie endeavours, telling the populous it's our fault because 'Our communications were certainly clear that the frequency was going to change and we had many, many months of lead time' as if that negates an ill thought out unanimous decision. Did I mention special consideration wasn't going to be rolled out until 4th 1/4 as per Wilson's amateurish facebook video. In the private sector if you mess up this poorly you're out on the street as it were. I agree with Cr. Wilson on one point specifically ".... But sometimes you don’t really understand the full impact of the change until it actually happens." Yes, I guess if you don't apply any thought, the process becomes thoughtless. Would never have happened if old Liz was still in charge

baw baw shire population expected to be at 94,000 by 2046. almost 30,000 more people in 20 years and they go and mess up rubbish collection? the councillors who disagree with this disaster should speak up now because kate isn’t getting re-elected. she will mess up utilities and water next if we let her

Council's response to my email was basically "deal with it". The Special Considerations Program won't cover large families or most tenants, leaving residents to store excess rubbish for which will attract rats and crows that rip bags apart and cause diseases.

A second red bin costs $100–$125/ year extra, with no rate reduction and it's collected on the same fortnightly cycle! Meaning it adds cost without reducing landfill volume at all per household! No option for a bigger bin for safe storage and you need to be "eligible" for the 'SCP'. With the cost of meat and groceries today, most families can't afford to waste food. Every meal is planned, leftovers are used, and very little ends up in the bin. What food scraps can be composted are often put to good use in backyard compost bins or fed to family pets. The reality is that people are already doing everything they can to reduce food waste because they have to, not because they're being told to, so the assumption that 50% of weekly household waste is "food organics" is simply a joke. The rebate scheme council points to as support is capped at $10,000/year for the entire shire and is funded out of residents own waste charges not council generosity, just their (our) own money handed back selectively until the pool runs dry!
