My son was sent to GA dept of corrections at 16 he was first time offender sent to maximum security prison after 5 years the torment he experience and saw on the inside it was too much to handle he came home from prison and sadly took his own life. This has to stop there are inmates that want to do there time and come home to there families without being beat, raped, stabbed, tortured. GA doc is not transparent about the killings and deaths while in there custody it's all a cover up.

It is sad to see someone be punished in Georgia for having a drug problem. Then he gets sent to a place where their is more drugs than what is out here on the streets. Georgia sets up up for failure

Editable and enough food, water, medical/dental and safety are completely absent in our Prisons. My son is 6’4 and normally weighs in around 275… he now weighs like 175. I can’t send him money for commissary because he goes to his book balance from medical/dental he received if you can even call it real medical/dental treatment! He lives in fear daily and has been extorted for money as well! The so-called investigation that was done in Oct 24 is not being addressed! I’m 100% in to help see REAL CHANGE !

But because the law is corrupted and greedy for The State to fund inmates that is never used on them we want justice to be served in the proper manor ... Inmates are being forced to be Quite also threated about the Inhuman treatment that goes on inside these jails and Prisons all over Georgia . They are the ones who should put behind lacked doors for their Inhumane actions towards Human beings . they are given little food and Nasty food that is not fit for human Consumption . They barely are let out on nice days where the body needs fresh air and sun light , They aren't protected by inmates that beat up other inmates and they are not even safe around the staff that works inside these locked doors and walls . They want to do away with cell phone but yet their the ones who are bringing them into the Prisons and drugs . they don't want any inmates to video record what is really happening inside these prisons . I want My Husband released because he is innocent in the laws eyes they are treated only like a Number and the prison's benefit from it in Money. They Inmates in a number & a pay check for these prisons they don't even use the monthly money that the state or government give to help the inmates on what they need . Something needs to be done about this and Quick. Let my husband go give us back our freedom and to have a life .

My Future Husband Has Been falsely Charged and is at this moment being held In Coastal State Prison for allegations that were all Based on Lies , And also Being beaten Up inside the Prison by inmates for charges that were Placed on him that are False and not true. what happen to all the innocent inmates in these Prison’s that are being treated unfairly ,living inside there in filth , Small portions of Food not even safe for Human consumption , Inmates being Murdered and beaten and the System shows no care, no Protection what so ever. You have workers inside doing things illegal in the prison and they get away with what they are doing .Where is the fairness in that? I’d like to know !!Our family’s suffer Financially cause the system over charges us to provide for our Love ones when here the System is already taken funds each month to provide for each inmate and pocketing it instead of providing the inmates what they rightfully deserve, which is proper Medical Help, proper Food and Portions. Stop treating Humans like Animals for We are all god’s Children. The System needs to Change for the better Not remain in the worse. Just Remember God see’s all things the Just & the Unjust the corrupted and the Good there will come a time when God does away with all Unjust people and Corrupted people so get straight with yourselves before it’s to late.

No details were given to me on what happened. Found out later that my son laid dead in his cell for 3 or more days before being discovered. How? WHY? I feel like I will never know the EXACT truth.
Bertha supported: Fight Injustice in Georgia Prisons: Join The Fight Against GA Dept of CorrectionDespite advocating for decades and despite the four year investigation by the DOJ and their recent release of their horrifying report and the deadline they gave GDC to improve conditions, that deadline has come and gone with things only getting worse. December set a record of inmate deaths with 38 men losing their lives after some being tortured for weeks and their dead bodies not being found for DAYS while inside of solitary confinement and others the GDC calls suicide even though there’s broken legs and their hands are tied behind their backs. There’s also the drug overdoses from illegal contraband smuggled in the prisons, sometimes by the guards themselves and others pass away from lack of proper care. GDC stopped listing their cause of death on the monthly mortality report earlier last year. Why hide it? There’s also the issues of no heat or AC in most facilities, often no hot water and only one shower working, the mold and mildew and infestation of roaches and rats, the inedible small portions of food they serve that sometimes come from boxes labeled “not for human consumption”, the corruption of the entire staff, their failure to adequately staff these prisons, lack of outside rec time, lack of rehabilitation classes, and the list goes on and on. Not all of the ppl behind those walls deserve death but they all are fighting for their lives. Our government continues to ignore the pleas to at least stop the deaths and violence. No one listens. No one will enforce our laws or protect our civil rights.

Yes our love ones committed a crime and they are serving their time for that. But to be hurt, barely fed, going without heat or working water is beyond the treatment they deserve. I pray that this petition reaches the right people and they make a change to this horrible situation.
