This isn't a celebration of one community. It's an attack on a minority group fueled by fear and misinformation. The city of Boise is a home to all and should not support hatemongers.
This "Hetero Awesomeness Month" during LGBT+ Pride Month is a disrespectful and tone-deaf initiative. Pride is a commemoration of the fight against oppression and violence faced by the LGBT+ community. Heterosexual individuals do not face systemic oppression for their sexual orientation. To claim this time is to actively diminish the struggles and voices of a marginalized group. It's akin to celebrating "White Pride" during Black History Month – unacceptable and offensive. Pride celebrations are for those who've fought for their place, not those who have always had it. I stand against this attempt to overshadow and devalue the meaning of Pride.
How is caring for every one of God's creatures so uncomfortable for some. We all have limited time on this planet, how about caring instead of worrying about who loves whom. I agree with making bad people pay for their crimes, and that includes the con men and women of whatever political party. But how does your love for someone injure me? Be patient with people and yourself. The Greek philosopher Marcus Aurelius gathered what came to be known as The Stoic Rules....it's worth the time look them up and consider your paths. Best Wishes
I am a native Idahoan and have hope that we can be a great state that is inclusive, understanding and caring for all walks of life. These actions by a local business owner is unjust and prejudice in so many ways and should not be tolerated. As a community, and as a state, we should strive to do better and be better for the people and communities that take refuge here. Not one person is greater or should be treated differently than another. Do better Idaho!
I grew up in Idaho all my life, seen prejudices everywhere; but I’ve seen it grow and change as I got older. I also used to be someone with those same prejudices, but I realized it was my own internal hate towards myself. Idaho has so many kind and beautiful people, I want to see it grow more with kindness instead of this social division.
As a born and raised Idahoan, it is disheartening and disgusting this is even an issue. Pride celebrations are the acknowledgment and acceptance of LGBTQ+ people, including your Idahoan families, that face the oppression and injustice on the daily- not criminal parades with people saying its okay to mutilate yourself or your children. Pride is to simply recognize and accept who these people are, even if you, yourself, do not feel that same way and therefore may not understand to the best of the extent. Letting your hatred overcome you does not benefit anybody, especially when the issue doesn’t directly harm you in the first place. Hate has no home in ID, be better.
We shouldn't have to move an event out of its official celebratory month to make people feel "uncomfortable", and support of LGBTQ rights is not an attack on heterosexuality.
I was born in Idaho and have lived here all my life, 50 years. I am appalled by this state and the fact that giving this man a platform to be prejudice is completely unjust. It's completely gross to even consider this. Stop the hate Idaho!
I believe in a Boise that uplifts all of its people. There’s no place for hate in our celebrations—only love, diversity, and community. This only creates more division and feeds intolerance. Boise shouldn’t be used as a stage for hate.
