I have been collecting Moorcroft pottery for over 25yrs and have quite a large collection and am devastated that it’s gone into liquidation.
It almost feels like l’ve lost a family member as l knew most of design team and the shop staff.
My wife passed away over 5yrs ago and l still remember the items we bought together and l have added several items since then which remind me of her related to her in some way.
Hopefully it can be saved as it’s unique pottery being made for so long.
It’s part of English Heritage and around the world and is a great advertisement for British manufacturers.

It has become harder and harder to find pieces in current catalogues with genuine design merit and I've resorted to hunting down trial pieces - the items that the skilled crafts people wanted to create, but that were rejected by the bean counters. I'm not alone and it says an awful lot when collectors are hunting down the items they decided to not manufacture. The failed bean counters will just go on to something else - a manufacturer of plastic forks or novelty balloons - or perhaps to run a major utilities company - and they leave behind them pure devastation of a company that has held its head high for many decades. The business end of Moorcroft needs to hang its head in shame here, not the artists that work with them. It isn't their fault that the best work was so routinely rejected in favour of re-runs and shmaltzy nonsense.
