Monsieur le Président,

Vous qui aviez courageusement menacé Israël de l’écarter des compétitions s’il ne respectait pas les droits humains des Palestiniens, nous demandons instamment de prendre position de manière urgente et officielle sur le sort de Mahmoud Al-Sarsak, footballeur Palestinien de 25 ans, arrêté il y a 3 ans alors qu’il se rendait à une compétition sportive et emprisonné depuis, en Israël, sans motif ni jugement.

Mahmoud Al-Sarsak en est à son 84e jour de grève de la faim et peut mourir d’un instant à l’autre. Israël lui refuse des soins médicaux appropriés hors de la prison de Ramleh et il ne peut pas voir de médecins indépendants. Les associations de défense des droits de l’homme palestiniennes (Addameer et Al Haq), israélienne (Physicians for Humans Rights) et Amnesty International demandent sa libération immédiate.

Il en va de la crédibilité de l’UEFA au moment où elle défend les 11 valeurs clés pour l’avenir du football européen et nous comptons vivement sur votre engagement.

La vie de Mahmoud Al-Sarsak dépend de la force de notre mobilisation commune.

Mahmoud Al-Sarsak is in his 84th day of hunger strike and might die at any moment. Israel denies him proper medical care outside the Ramleh prison and he can not see independent physicians. NGOs defending Human Rights, Palestinian (Addameer and Al Haq), Israeli (Physicians for Humans Rights) and Amnesty International call for his immediate release. The credibility of UEFA is at stakes at a time when it defends the 11 key values for the future of European football. We rely strongly on your commitment. The life of Mahmoud Al-Sarsak depends on the strength of our joint mobilization.
