Life is stressful and the added stress of getting a parking daily in either Redland Bay or on the SMB Island is highly stressful, impacting detrimentally to health of Impacted SMBI Residents in addition to life’s daily stresses. We should have the same rights for a designated parking for each household that live on the SMBI the same as the people have on the “Mainland” our Redland Bay rates & taxes and Government taxes are the same as any other Australian however the access to park with safety should be guaranteed the same way as access for teachers and students are guaranteed to travel on public transport and park at home with full vehicular access between home and mainland. Why must these residents be subject to being the exception. “New Legislation” Refland Bay residents may not park their vehicle at home but 600m away and their are only 1/10th parking spaces available let’s see our elected council members and associated department heads be subject to these same experiences for the rest of their careers. Then observe the changes to legislative rules and available access becomes the norm. Not the exception then observe the availability of parking and access changes.
Bay Islands residents are struggling to find parking any time of the day. I'll be leaving the islands this November and I'm signing this petition in hopes that the Island residents get the parking that is required through to at least 2030 as more are relocating to the Jupiter island giants Russell and Macleay Island as well as Karragarra and Lamb Island. More residents = More parking needed. The island residents shouldn't have to suffer this problem for over seven years with no action taken.
31 years of Redland Council deliberately ignoring the needs of the islands regarding parking. When collecting $2.7 million one year in car parking fines Redland Council has made it plainly obvious that they would prefer to collect Revenue rather than giving adequate parking to the growing islands population.
Redlands are very quick to promote and help the islands grow without any plan for the increased parking needs.
When will Redlands stop using our Mainland car park for Revenue hunting?
