Marion Council continue to receive complaint after complaint regarding the parking issues at Tonsley Village.
Their solution has resulted in an increase of Parking Inspectors in the last few weeks - both early morning and night. However this is a band aid fix and not getting to the core issue.

Over the years, even before moving into my home nine months ago, I have observed that congestion would be an issue. Many posts have been raised in our community group, and there have been numerous personal frustrations and community/neighbour discussions around this. If the core issue isn’t addressed, the frustrations/issues are going to continue and likely worsen as more people move into the development.

While I do not support illegal parking and agree that yellow lines are there for a reason, this does not solve the core issue. The question remains: where are all the cars going to go? If there is an opportunity for Peet and Marion Council to redesign the area to include better parking spaces without impacting our beautiful green spaces, then it is worth pursuing.

Peet and Marion Council have the opportunity to revisit the plans but they are choosing not to. There is opportunity to improve the parking space  by allowing parking permits to residents who do wish to park in lane ways across from their driveways, as well as including ‘indent parking’ along streets to widen the road (without removing green spaces).

What the community wants is for Peet and Marion Council to listen to the concerns and actually provide a solution that is reasonable. We live in Australia, we have room and crammed living spaces and 1 garage homes which cannot fit a normal sized car (with not enough street visitor parking) or anywhere for some residences to store their waste bins.

WHAT WE PROPOSE IS :

Marion Council, Peet Limited and Renewal SA to host a Community Meeting to allow residents to voice their concerns and work together to find a solution that isn’t just fining people. The planning of this residential area was not done properly and they should be made accountable.
