People who will hurt an animal, will hurt those they say they love also. The damage done to this poor seal pup should scare anyone who becomes aware of what was done to this poor creature.
The only way to respond to a crime like this, is to make sure that the person who committed it, is placed in a situation that keeps them from hurting others, whether they be animals or human beings. A crime like this, that is not dealt with to the highest order in the courts, puts out the wrong message to any community that has a crime like this occur.
Please take into consideration the fact that the multiple stabbing of this innocent creature was a cruel, inhuman, and done without any feelings attached to the life that they brutally stabbed.
