It’s so much harder to find land, raise money and build a wheel park than it is to pour a slab of pickle court anywhere flat. To eliminate an already RAD existing place for skills development on bikes, boards or whatever, should be criminal.

Do NOT destroy this Canadian landmark skatepark. Parks these days are made without the intricacies of this park which helps promote children into choosing skateboarding into their adulthood and inspire them into thinking this is a lifelong activity they can participate, grow and develop with as they mature and develop into future community leaders. This park brings my tourist dollars annually into the community as a visitor to and former resident of Vancouver.

I love riding at my local skatepark 5 minutes from me so seeing the possibility of a skatepark close and be tore down just to build something that could easily be built somewhere else is heartbreaking💔

We lost a major skatepark in the Metro Milwaukee area (The Turf, Greenfield, WI). The Turf was filled in in 1996 and was a major boon for the area, often drawing skaters and BMX'ers from all over the nation. It took over 20 years and that plot is being rebuilt - at the cost of over $2M USD. I implore you to consider the compromise and allow both to coexist on the same plot, this decision seems short-sided and not in the community's greater interests.

Youth have struggled to gather in-person to pursue meaningful activities since the pandemic. Youth desperately need places to connect with each other that are not solely behind the screen. If you want to build healthy communities and reduce crime, mental health issues and lonliness we must support positive experiences for young people - especially young men. Do NOT take away this skate park.

I signed because the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles is a corporate spectacle disguised as a celebration of unity. Let’s be real: this isn’t about sports anymore—it’s about profit over people, gentrification over justice, and global image over local impact. While billionaires and sponsors line their pockets with gold, everyday communities in LA—especially Black, Brown, Indigenous, working-class, and houseless folks—are being swept aside, criminalized, and displaced. All so the world can see a sanitized version of “America the beautiful” while the real America gets pushed into the shadows. I care because I believe in sports that uplift communities, not bulldoze them. I believe in legacy that builds homes, not destroys them. I believe in unity that doesn’t come with a militarized police force and corporate price tag. The Olympics should be about the people. But this one? It’s about power, image, and exploitation. Cancel the 2028 LA Olympics. Give the land back. Fund the people. Stop selling justice for gold medals.

The Olympics need to be held in a country that truly believes in everything that it stands for. The U.S. of America is now a shell of what it once was. To that end it would not be appropriate to hold the Olympics in a country that is deporting tourist. Has just voted to deport its own citizens or kidnapping “suspected” immigrants based on tattoos. This would be a dangerous situation for anyone to come here to participate in or watch loved ones.
