The SS United States is such a revolutionary ship in maritime history, ships are NOT built like they used to be, and it makes me very sad to see all these important historical vessels simply vanish. Peoples' families moved to new areas and saw new Keeping this ship here with us is not only a great thing to do, but it will open up so much knowledge to people who don't know the fantastic world of ocean liners. It just makes me so sad that people cannot realize her significance as a vessel, so many people love her dearly, including myself. Let's also not forget that the SSUS is quite literally the flagship of the United States, something else is the government has millions I would pay higher taxes when I’m older if I could , I would donate my entire life to save her

Although it has been stripped inside, its exterior still presents beautifully and with exterior work, would look like new. It would be advised to keep it afloat and let all persons on land visit rather than just divers. Another less meaningful boat can be easily sunk and reefed. And with such a patriotic package it does in so many ways represent America in power and grace as one. This is a concept we need to always keep in mind, especially now. To destroy it, in my opinion diminishes us regardless of politics. I urge you to either flip the ship for a profit or hope you will think carefully and reconsider reefing.

It holds records and it is named after the United States. I have a lot for ocean liners for a very long time in my life and I would hate to see this beast be sunk . Usually, it’s a great thing for ocean liner not to have sunk and most of our ocean liners have been scrapped. Why would we sink this one?

Sleek, elegant, and beautiful she should be out on the open water as an ambassador of good will. The wonderful ship could become a herald of aid to states, territories, and countries that has had disasters happen. The S.S. United States is large enough to have helipads on each end of her. She could have a desalination plant aboard to supply clean water for survival. Her cabins could be turned into medical rooms. The hold could hold supplies that populations need. The S.S. United States has the speed that could keep up with our own Navy's fleet if need be. A ship that was designed, and built to resist sinking, and on board fire is too grand a lady to be purposely sunk. What a shameful end for a ship that bares the name of the greatest nation the world has ever seen. Terry J Meyer

To this day, she holds the transatlantic speed record. I was sickened seeing her decay through the years - her paint fading and rust taking over. There’s no good reason for this. We have failed her.
