I have had to have someone careing for me the last few months as a volunteer, because I was diagnosed with Cancer in Dec 2024. I heat my home with oil. My electric bill and oil bill have been very high, some evenings I sit with a thick woolly Dressing Gown on to keep warm. This should not be the situation, I have paid into the system since 1966. I still pay tax as I have a Company Pension, I would say I am Comfortably off, but when it comes to the time I have to have a full time Carer 24 hours a day ,365 days of the year my savings will not last for ever. Who is going to pay for my Care in then? I have no children, I will be alone. Rachel Reeves you should be ashamed of yourself, you are penalising the vunerable people of this Country not just Pensioners but also people a lot younger with illnesses that prevents them from working eg Motor Nerone, MS, Parkinson’s, just a few medical issues then there are Veterans with injuries obtained in places like Iraq, Afghanistan to name a few. I have never voted Labour , however the Labour Party in the past had some acceptable people in the Party but todays Labour Party are people who have very little experience of business, as for the PM as a Lawyer he represented immigrants, How many did he receive Legal Aid for, to be accepted into this Country.!!!!

Husband has heart trouble and feels the cold. Like others we have worked all our lives and paid our dues why should we suffer.

I just missed out on last year's winter fuel payment. Last winter was the worst in a long time. I rarely leave the house. I couldnt afford to have the hearing on , I wore gloves and used blankets to try and keep warm. The only time I had hearing on was when I had a shower before bed. My pain was very bad on the coldest days. I just didn't want to have to cope with it anymore but I had to. If my mobility buggy could have made it from East suffolk to Starmmers house fire I could have warmed my self up, but hey ho that's my luck.

I suffer defeat chronic pain it's seven worse when I'm old. Last winter was the worst I've had for a long time, I rarely leave the house and couldn't afford to have the hearing on all the time. just had hearing in bathroom while showering , used gloves and blankets during the day. If my buggy could have made it to Starmers house fire I could have warned myself up a bit to reduce my pain.

Another daughter, aged 60, has had a severe stroke and, as she cannot live on her own, is now living with me. My husband died from cancer in April 2024, so now I am a one-man-band. I have lost my winter fuel allowance and do not receive carer's allowance, so if I find it a struggle to keep my home warm enough I am concerned about what will happen to my daughters. I wrote to my MP raising concerns but, surprise surprise, he did not respond. Labour the caring party - don,t make me laugh.
Pamela apoiou: Admit Mistake and Reverse the Winter Fuel Payment Cuts!It's not widely acknowedged that pensioners born before the early 1950s get a much lower state pension than on tthe new state pension. New state pensioners do pay more but taking inflation into account the old basic state pension should take account of inflation and many of us have pension gaps which are not our fault.
