This was my elementary school along with Baywood school, and I wouldn’t sure be sad to see it turned in to a bunch of housing for people who don’t even live here full-time. This seems to be what happens every time. Stop the LLCs from coming from out of town and turning our sleepy little town into a big city. This property should be protected. We need to preserve what little we have left of our past. Beside that, I love to take my 12 year-old daughter there ever since she was small. She learned to ride her bicycle there and we attempted rollerskates. We need to keep open areas like this for our children and our children’s children to enjoy.
This is a beautiful place that is used by so many members of the community! It has been used by generations of students. My 3rd grade teacher was one of the school board members that made Morro Elementary happen, my daughter attended cooperative preschool here and now goes to the charter school on the same campus. I watched rehabilitating wild birds take some of their first flights here. My daughter's grandmother took chair yoga here. People do tai chi on the lawn here. This place is part of a thriving community that would not have come together in another venue.
This is part of Morro Bay’s historic charm, losing this part of Morro Bay’s identity would be devastating and tragic. Morro Elementary is a Morro Bay icon! #Falcons
