I care about highly endangered Hawaiian Monk Seals and know that any development in their birthing areas could impact their well being and ability to nurse pups properly and protect their pups.

These seals rely on the North Shore’s pristine beaches for resting and pupping, and the proposed development of luxury condominiums in this area threatens their survival. The increased human activity and construction will disturb the seals, reducing their chances to reproduce and thrive. This isn’t just about monk seals—it’s about protecting the unique and fragile ecosystems of the North Shore that so many species, including sea turtles and albatrosses, call home.
The North Shore community has a history of fighting large-scale developments like this one, and we need to keep standing up for what’s right. Turtle Bay represents more than just land—it’s a symbol of Hawaiʻi’s natural beauty and cultural heritage. Allowing this development to go forward prioritizes profit over preservation and risks destroying an irreplaceable part of our environment. I strongly urge decision-makers to listen to the voices of the community and stop this development to ensure a future where both the monk seals and our natural coastline are protected.
James apoiou: Save the monk seals at turtle bay!Very limited coastal strand habitat remains on O`ahu. This area is known to have not only endangered monk seals that raise their pups here but threatened Hawaiian green turtles nest here as well and two species of endangered yellow faced bees can be found in this area.
