Trading Luka Dončić in the way they did just shows that this ownership and GM do not care about the fans. They have stolen my joy and my love for the game of basketball. I cannot support this team anymore following how this all went done. All greed, all about money, there is literally 0 justification from a basketball perspective to this trade. It’s collision at the highest level and the NBA allowed it to happen to make the Lakers have another generational type player. I’m disgusted.
As a loyal Mavericks fan, the one thing this franchise always had going for it was hope and loyalty. This was stripped away when Nico Harrison decided to selfishly trade away Luka for his best bud. Not only did he rob our community of our best chance at a championship, because even from a pure basketball standpoint this move is stupid, but he also stole from all of us another decade of future memories and moments that we could share with our family and friends. I was at game six of the playoffs when Luka absolutely obliterated the Suns and extended the series when no one else in the world thought that was possible. The best part of the game wasn't on the court though. It was every fan in the stadium chanting Mavs in 7! Every Luka game winner I truly was amazed and felt blessed that we were given such a special player and that best part was that you could always see the excitment and passion Luka had for winning. He clearly also cared for the city of Dallas and North Texas. He was truly a Texan. This city will miss Luka but still root for his success. I will not allow Harrison and the Adlesons to taint all the past memories I had of this team but after this I will not be spending a dime for this team as they no longer deserve my support. Truly no championship is worth taking away what this city had in Luka. I'd rather have ten more years of a Luka Doncic team then ten more years of Dallas Mavericks Championships.
I’ve been a Mavs fan since the 90s. We had some bad teams back then, but I still watched because I loved the players. We had some great teams in the 2000s, including a couple of trips to the Finals and a championship that was more satisfying for a lot of us than any other championship by a local team because it took years and years to build. Lots of disappointment along the way, but the Mavs (behind Dirk) were always competitive. I was fully onboard and invested in this team because something special was being built again. We lucked into the perfect successor for Dirk in Luka. We made it to the Finals last year. And then the organization ripped our hearts out by blowing it up. Fuck that. Fuck the owners and fuck Nico Harrison. Nico should be fired and the owners forced to sell the team. I feel bad for the Mavs who were left behind, I feel bad for Anthony Davis having to walk into this trash situation, but I feel the worst for Luka. He did not deserve this. You fucked him over and you fucked over this franchise for years to come. I will not watch another Mavs game this year and I’m seriously considering boycotting the Mavs as long as these idiots are in charge.
Nico Harrison disrespected the MFFLs and the city of Dallas by trading Luka. He is our franchise player who we saw as being here for his entire career but Nico decided against us. As fans we have invested a lot into this organization for decades. This is how you decide to treat us. Unacceptable!!!
