Nico Harrison single-handedly destroyed & dismantled the Mavs with this trade. Dirk passed the torch to Luka for a reason & that was the selling point and the advertising that made this organization relevant and profitable. Our face of the franchise retired, and the new face was stepping in. Not only did fans believe this narrative but so did Luka and those closest to him. He entrusted his talent, his career & his future in this organization. One reason that I have always loved and supported the Mavs is there is a certain sense of loyalty, respect and above board dealings that have always been on the forefront of this organization, up until now. Character matters. How other teams, owners, other players, the fans & the current members or the prospective members of the team perceive the management and the Mavs organization matters. I would not support, spend money on, or condone any organization or team built on distrust, absurd coffee meetings to discuss ridiculous transactions, and deals that undermine the value, loyalty and talent staring you in the face. It smells fishy and looks fishy to all & has made Dallas Mavs and our fans a complete laughing stock because if it wasn’t so calculated, dubious and plain sick, it would be a tremendous April Fools joke. Who is going to want to willingly sign up to be a part of such a mockery where you as a player, as a teammate, as a coach or a fan doesn’t know when or if the irresponsible, self-serving GM is going to go grab another coffee and make another ridiculous deal. The damage is already done, but please stop the bleeding and cut ties with the poison that wrecked our franchise, our hope for a championship team we can be proud of, and completely ripped the heart and soul out of Luka, his family and his supporters. Dallas has struggled for years to get notable talent that want to be here. Dallas was Luka’s home, and he chose to be here and stick with us because he is loyal and committed. This was his team, and his community, something that Nico Harrison has zero allegiance to or concern about. It’s sad what one will do to benefit SELF, and to gain favor and/or attention. This is not Dallas, this is not how the Mavs have ever operated, and Nico does not belong. He is not a team player & doesn’t value this organization or our fan base, and clearly doesn’t recognize what we had in Luka and can never regain. Passing the torch from Dirk to Luka meant something that Nico did not and cannot comprehend, and he must go.
All Dallas Mavericks fans are feeling the sting of this trade. It has caused emotional damage. It’s hard to believe it wasn’t orchestrated behind the scenes. There needs to be a thorough investigation into the actions of Nico Harrison and Rob Pelinka. At the very least, Nico should be held accountable and removed from his position. What Nico did to the Mavericks has essentially shattered the entire organization. NBA is full of greed but for Dallas it’s about the loyalty Luka and the fans have shown to the Mavericks, a bond that runs deeper than the game itself. Help us veto this trade!
Luka is the reason I became involved with basketball , his career was suppose to stay in Dallas , last year he carried us to the finales and as a matter a fact if it wasn’t for Luka in the finales we would have been blown way out with out a chance , cause he was the heart to this team , those players we have on our team they came to Dallas because of Luka no one would’ve of came if it wasn’t for Luka , it’s sad that this year has turned into the most heart breaking season yet far more than last years and we lost the finales , and I believe all my maverick fans can agree , Luka was more to Dallas than just playing basketball and winning , he made it a better place
I love the Mavs, and the loyalty they stood for when Cuban was the owner. I only have 2 Dallas Mavericks jerseys, Dirk and Luka. Luka was supposed to be a lifelong Maverick, and he was dedicated to be with this organization for his entire career. That is difficult to find, and that’s not even counting his generational talent. We just went to the Finals, LAST YEAR! This is like trading LeBron after 07. Kobe after 08. And most importantly Dirk after 06. We would’ve never gotten the chance to witness the greatest finals run of all time in 2011, from a home grown superstar. It has already been hard to find talent in free agency to sign with Dallas. However, because of Luka we were able to get Kyrie to commit long term, and have Klay leave Golden State for us. That’s the kind of player Luka is, and the lifelong fans will never accept this kind of move.
