No child should have to endure what that precious boy had to and no parent should have to bury their child. I have a 4 year old myself, and I couldn't even imagine the pain the family is going through. And for what daycare cost, no child's life should be at risk. They should be taken care of.
This is the first I have heard of this and I am sickened, saddened, and appalled that an innocent child was killed because they "refused to nap"... This would be completely uncalled for even if he were not autistic and had simply "not been listening", but the fact that he was neurodivergent adds another layer of wrongness. Why did this worker feel the need to have so much control that a child was killed because he was interpreted as not doing exactly as he was told? Children shouldn't have to be robots or dolls.. they shouldn't be expected to just mind all the time and do everything they're told to do when it's not something that's going to hurt them or anybody else. If he didn't want to take a nap, so what? Naps may be beneficial for children but he wasn't going to end up hurt by not taking one; yet he DID end up not only hurt, but no longer alive, because some ignorant control freak decided to force him to do as he was told. I really hope that worker is behind bars and stays there for a long time. This is so sad for Conrad, and for his family, and it was so unnecessary and preventable. To say shame on the daycare and the worker who did this is an understatement. Conrad's Law must be passed to try to prevent senseless tragedies like this from occurring again.
We need to see a change! Parents can not work if they do not have a safe and trusted place to take their children. Let's change this now in memory of Conrad. The sweet baby boy that lost his life due to negligence of the caretakers and the owner of the facility. We need a change!!
I am a mother of two children and 5 grandbabies. I spent most of my time as mother to my two children as a single mom. Who has no choice. But to use daycares or babysitter. I have had the experience of something happening to a child. While I was at work thinking my child was safe. And I have experienced what it feels to loose a child on different circumstances. And the pain I carry everyday. It never goes away . It's always there. I don't even want to imagine the image this mother will carry for rest of her life of her baby. And what this daycare and the women done to her precious baby. This baby was non verbal but this law will be his voice! Conrad deserves this law for others even though he didn't have it for himself! Give this baby the justice he deserves!!!
I care for all children in a daycare setting. This story broke my heart. I have a autistic granddaughter. She speaks & is able to cry out for help. Conrad was unable to do so. 😭 I believe there should be cameras in every daycare center in the US.
There needs to be a law that ALL day cares cannot operate without working video footage that parents can see and access at any time in order to check on their kids. This is absolutely ridiculous, background checks are a must but not everyone that has a clean background has good intentions.
This was a tragedy that could have been avoided with better rules and regulations when carrying for childern especially those no verbal. Let's make our childern safer than ever before. No family should go through this
