A Father. A Son. A System Broken by a Corrupt Attorney's Power.

 

In 2023, I entered Oklahoma’s family court system with hope — hope for fairness, for peace, and for the chance to co-parent my child with dignity and love. What I encountered instead was a corrupt machine engineered to profit from pain, prolong conflict, and rip families apart. At the very center of that machine was one name:

 

Laura McConnell — current President of the Family Law Section at the Oklahoma Bar Association.

 

While incompetence may be forgiven, willful abuse of position cannot. Ms. Laura McConnell, in her capacity as President of the Family Law Section, has repeatedly and systematically exploited her position for personal and financial gain. Her actions transcend professional negligence — they reflect a pattern of ethical misconduct that undermines the credibility of the legal profession.

By leveraging her title, courtroom relationships, and political capital, Ms. McConnell turned the legal system into a tool of coercion rather than justice. These actions do not simply harm opposing parties — they endanger the welfare of children, erode public trust in the courts, and betray the foundational principles of family law.

 

She prolonged the case unnecessarily for years when a simple phone call could have settled the matter. She manipulated proceedings, blocked every attempt at resolution, and exploited her proximity to the judiciary to sabotage my ability to be heard. She made sure every motion I filed towards resolution was denied. She used random, unfounded accusations to spin a false narrative. Her goal was clear: extract as much juice as possible from naive and vulnerable parents by fueling conflict and through misinformation and do so at any cost, even if it meant tearing my son from the only caregiver he knew — me.

 

Today, I am forcibly removed from my son’s life, not because of abuse, not because of neglect, but because Laura McConnell chose power and profit over truth and compassion.

 

Worse, my son has been left in the care of strangers. Strangers who, I fear, are putting him in harm’s way — while I, his father, am erased from the picture.

 

This is not just my story. This is the story of every parent who has been erased by courtroom corruption. This is the story of a broken system, one that allows politically connected attorneys like Laura McConnell to treat children as bargaining chips and courtrooms as battlegrounds.

 

We Demand Immediate Action:

 

Remove Laura McConnell from her position as President of the Family Law Section of the Oklahoma Bar Association for:

 

1. Abusing her position to influence judicial decisions
2. Fueling conflict rather than resolution
3. Exploiting children and families for financial and political gain
4. Perpetuating gender bias and legal intimidation
5. Violating the ethical obligations of her office

 

The Family Law Section must be led by those who uphold justice — not those who weaponize it. Families deserve peace. Children deserve both parents. And the public deserves a legal system free of corruption.
