Principal Garmon is one of the most compassionate educators I have encountered . My children went to Broadway elementary and she was professional, smart, caring with every situation that she encountered. We fought hard for this program then and will continue our support.

The dual language immersion program instilled such great academic foundations in them, and a love for the target language. Ms. Garmon is an integral part of the academic rigor, welcoming environment, and community of families that is Broadway elementary school. She needs to stay in place and continue the great work. Having continuity and longevity from dedicated staff is a key to success.

I found the community and open campus so beautiful and welcoming. I had the chance to see Principal Garmon at morning assembly on several occasions and loved the way she interacted with the children and with my grandson. She was both approachable and a strong presence.
As a former educator in Montessori education, I’m saddened to see someone who is such a light being diminished by the system. Principal Garmon can easily be a top private school principal with the level of care and attention she gives to both students and parents. We hope to see her there the next time we visit.. LAUSD if not her, what do you believe is the answer? Please allow her to stay.

LAUSD has a long history of false promises with the Mandarin program, especially, at Broadway. A culture of self-sufficiency has developed from this in the parent community at Broadway. Now, LAUSD wants to punish the program for it? Ridiculous. Broadway is one of the crown jewels of LAUSD and is an incredibly bright spot in my child's childhood. Principal Garmon (Ms. Garmon at that time) was an integral part of that. Let it continue to be this way for more children to come under the leadership of a principal that has proven she understands what the students and teachers at Broadway need to thrive.

This staff member is essential to our school community and losing her will directly impact the well being of our most vulnerable students.
Laura supported: All LAUSD Students Need Access to Psychiatric Social Workers (PSWs)!!!As a former high school student who at the time struggled (and still struggle) with severe major depression and suicidal ideation, I empathize with any student, staff, or faculty member of any educational institution that does not have easy and free access to psychiatric help from psychiatric social workers. The added pressure to this district to continue its enrollment requirements is an added struggle. There should be no minimum requirement for having PSWs ideally. LAUSD's students, staff, and faculty may not otherwise have access to psychiatric care without PSWs. This is extremely concerning!

The impact this will have on our students is going to be devastating. LAUSD needs to take action immediately!
Kathryn supported: All LAUSD Students Need Access to Psychiatric Social Workers (PSWs)!!!I believe this position is needed because seeing and hearing what a lot of students are going through is needed to be heard. Had plenty of classmates growing up with some type of trauma for them. Especially in minority and lower-income neighborhoods. Disappointing how this position is under appreciated despite being some of the only people to make a difference in some kids choices and getting through some of the daily socioeconomic problems we can have. This is some people’s dream job and for it to be taken away is very upsetting. I’d recommend rethinking this decision before making it happen.
